Our Leadership
Daniel D. Rexroth
President and CEODan joined John Knox Village in 1990 as executive director of the Village Care Center. He was promoted to vice president of the Village’s health services division in 1991 before becoming John Knox Village president in March 2001.
Prior to joining John Knox Village, Dan was administrator at North Shore Terrace in Chicago from 1985 to 1990. Throughout the 1980s, he served as a health care consultant, developing programming, staffing and quality programs in Florida, Illinois and Indiana.
Dan currently is a member of several professional boards, including St. Luke’s East Hospital, Olivet Nazarene University, Mid-America Nazarene University, and the Palestine Economic Development Corporation. He has served on the boards of Caring Communities Insurance Company, LeadingAge (formerly the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging), Nursing Facilities Agent Corporation, LeadingAge Missouri, and State of Missouri Certificate of Need Program and Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Dan also is active in the local community serving on the boards of directors of the Lee’s Summit Healthcare Foundation, the Lee’s Summit Economic Development Council, and the Lee’s Summit Civic Roundtable.
Dan earned a doctorate in education from Olivet Nazarene University in May 2015. He has a master’s degree in clinical psychology from Ball State University and a bachelor’s degree from Olivet Nazarene University.
Kim Klockenga
Vice President of Finance and Corporate TreasurerKim joined the Village in 2012 as vice president of finance and chief financial officer. Prior to joining the Village, he was vice president and chief financial officer of Friendship Village of Schaumburg in Schaumburg, Illinois, where he led the financial and information technology functions for the organization’s parent facility and four subsidiaries. He also worked for Woodstock Christian Life Services in Woodstock, Illinois, and Motorola, Inc.
Kim has served on the Life Service Network (LeadingAge Illinois) board of directors as treasurer and chair of the finance committee. He has been a speaker at several professional conferences, including LeadingAge (formerly the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging), Ziegler, Life Service Network, and Aging Services of Minnesota. Kim was appointed to Missouri’s Nursing Facility Agent Corporation Board, and has served a 3-year term on the Lee’s Summit Chamber board.
Kim is a graduate of the Executive MBA program of Lake Forest University and has an accounting degree from Kent State University. He graduated from Leadership Lee’s Summit, a program with the mission to develop and enhance leadership skills for individuals who will generate positive actions within the community and help resolve future challenges.
Anthony Columbatto
Vice President of Health and Community ServicesAnthony joined John Knox Village in 2016 as the administrator of the Village Care Center skilled nursing center. In 2021, he was appointed vice president of health and community services. Anthony directs all services provided within the Village Care Center, Village Assisted Living, Village Home Health, Village Helpers In-Home Care and Village Hospice.
Prior to joining the Village, Anthony worked for Ascension Living as the executive director of St. Mary’s Manor in Blue Springs, Missouri, and as the assistant administrator of Alexian Brother’s Lansdowne Village in St. Louis.
Anthony has served on the LeadingAge Missouri board of directors since 2015, most recently as the chair-elect. He also is a graduate of Leadership Lee’s Summit’s class of 2020. Anthony has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Missouri Baptist University and a master’s degree in healthcare administration from Lindenwood University.
Maria Timberlake
Vice President of Senior LivingMaria joined John Knox Village as public relations manager in 1988. She was later promoted to vice president of resident relations, and in fall 2007 was promoted to vice president of senior living. Among her responsibilities, Maria oversees the Village’s independent living business unit and a broad range of resident programs and services to meet the needs of residents across the continuum.
Maria has presented on a number of communications and programming topics at retirement community industry conferences on both the state and national levels and was a member of the Public Relations Task Force for the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging. She has served on the board of directors of the Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce and chaired the chamber’s Public Relations Committee. Prior to joining the Village, she managed public relations for Hyatt Legal Services, a nationwide law firm.
Maria holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and public relations from Iowa State University.
Laurie Johnson
Vice President of Human ResourcesLaurie joined John Knox Village as vice president of human resources in July 2017. She has served organizations in a variety of industries, including healthcare, banking, energy services, behavioral health and hospitality. Prior to joining the Village, she was director of human resources for Via Christi Health in Pittsburg, Kansas. She also worked for Kirkpatrick Bank as vice president of human resources and Diamondback Energy Services as vice president of human resources, both of which are based in Oklahoma.
Laurie serves on the Board of Directors of the Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce, University Missouri Kansas City Bloch School HR Advisory Board, Eastern Jackson County Workforce Development Board, and is a recent graduate from Leadership Lee’s Summit.
Laurie holds a bachelor’s degree in human resources management from the University of Central Arkansas, and a Master of Science in organizational leadership from Columbia Southern University. Committed to professional development, Laurie is an active member of the American Society for Health Care Human Resources Administration, the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), and the Society of Leadership and Success. She also is a member of SHRM of Greater Kansas City.
Gail Benne
Foundation PresidentGail Benne joined John Knox Village as Foundation President in 2012. Benne comes to the Village with an extensive background in fundraising and philanthropic leadership. Prior to joining the Foundation, Gail was director of the Kingswood Foundation where she secured funding for the community’s various programs and projects. She also is past vice president of development for Wayside Waifs, as well as director of development for Hope House and Rose Brooks Center.
Benne holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Nebraska.
